What is a champion and how do you reward them?

Everyone is capable of greatness. Some of us find greatness in our hobbies. Others in our jobs. Others in our interests and pursuits. For those who work for you that are champions, how do you reward them?

Dictionary.com defines a champion as :

  • Someone who has won first place in a competition
  • Someone who fights for a cause
  • Supporter: a person who backs a politician or a team etc.
  • Protect or fight for as a champion
  • Holding first place in a contest
  • Ace: someone who is dazzlingly skilled in any field
Every one of these definitions of champions is deserving of an award! Each champion can play an important role in your business, and here are examples of each kind of champion which you can award for their successes.

Someone Who has won first place in a Competition: Perhaps this is your lead sales person? Your fastest production assistant? Your most talented and acclaimed art director? Any person who is at the top of their game should be commended and rewarded for their efforts.

Someone who fights for a cause: Perhaps you've got a zealous office manager who always double checks the paperwork and keeps the business running smoothly? Perhaps your janitorial staff is always going above and beyond? Perhaps your I.T. professionals are always finding innovative ways to save you money? A simple award goes a long way to showing these champions how much you appreciate them.

Supporter: a person who backs a politician or a team etc: Could your sales manager do his job without a team of excellent account executives backing him up? Could your marketing team do as well as they did without support from your production team or the rest of your crew? These champions should be validated for their efforts with an award of support.

Protect or fight for as a champion: Perhaps you have someone on staff who is overcoming professional obstacles to be where they are today? Perhaps every day shows improvement both for themselves and the company? Perhaps these champions work every day to better themselves and their environment? These champions deserve a figment of your gratitude as well.

Holding first place in a contest: Do you have that one long time employee that always outperforms others in their industry? Do they constantly challenge themselves to do better and improve their process? Do they perform so well that no one eclipses their title as "Leader"? This long-running Champions should be awarded with one of our grand awards to commemorate their lifetime of continual dedication to being the best.

Ace: someone who is dazzlingly skilled in any field: Is there someone in your facility that is a prodigy at their craft? Perhaps they have a natural gift that they use to their competitive advantage? Perhaps they've proven themselves proficient to a point that they teach others simply by doing. These champions should be rewarded with a token of your admiration as well.

No matter what kind of champions you have in your facility, every one of them is a good candidate for an award. Come see our thousands of potential awards at http://www.awardsideas.com. We'll gladly custom make something for the champion in your operation.

What would be a unique recognition award for an energy conservation activist?

We are always looking for unique ways to recognize people we work with who are energy conservation champions. They belong to our client organizations and are achieving great results. Sure, we create beautiful plaques, crystal pieces and marble trophies, but what we're always looking for is that unique thoughtfulness that makes the reward come alive.

What have you seen or heard about that ended up being that perfect combination of visual look and written message that you would like to share with us and others?

And while you're thinking about this, turn off the lights when you leave the room.

Recognition Awards beyond what you see in an awards catalogue

Sometimes, someone or a team does something so special that only a one of a kind custom award idea will do.

You don't want to present them with a 'me too', 'oh- I've seen that award before' trophy. The situation needs something new and unique.

What have you done or seen that you want to share?

We at awardsIDEAS.com have created a lot of 'WOW' awards. We are always wanting to hear success stories!
